Instructor Responsibilities

• Instructors will behave courteously towards all persons with whom they come in contact when providing services.
• When providing lessons, instructors shall apply themselves solely to the task and not engage in other activities such as cell phone use, eating, or anything else that is inappropriate or distracting to the learner driver.
• Instructors will comply with the Motor Vehicle Act and its regulations, and any other relevant applicable law.
• Instructors will treat all persons equally and with dignity and respect.
• Instructors will conduct themselves professionally and will strive to strengthen and uphold public confidence in the driver training industry.
• Instructors will support road safety and the provision of driver licensing services to British Columbians.
• Instructors will protect the privacy of customers and safeguard any customer records they possess or control, in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
• Instructors will act with honesty and integrity, recognizing that they are in a position of trust and authority.
• Instructors are aware of all road rules and regulations, and their licences are current.

Student Expectations

• The student is mentally and emotionally fit to undertake driving lessons, and their current driver’s licence is valid for driving in BC, Canada for the duration of the lessons.
• Marques Driving School services do not include road tests. We can make an appointment on your behalf for the road test.
• The student agrees to hold Marques Driving School harmless from all claims, demands, losses, causes of action, damages, lawsuits and judgments, including reasonable legal costs, arising out of or relating to any dispute arising from any lawfully provided service.
• All lessons are individual and one on one, unless the instructor and student agree in advance that another person may be in the vehicle and why they are attending. There will be a maximum of three people.

Fees

Lessons

ICBC road test and licensing fees are not included. Prices are subject to change without notice.

Cancellations

• To cancel a lesson, please give us at least 48 hours of notice. With less notice, a cancellation fee of $30 will be charged. A same-day or last-minute cancellation costs the full lesson fee, or you lose the lesson.
• Cancelling a car rental is a $40 fee. The car is always booked together with a lesson, so cancelling both costs $70.
• For cancelling a road test appointment booked by Marques Driving School, we require 72 hours of notice, as we must notify ICBC. Without sufficient notice, the student may be charged ICBC’s $25 road test cancellation fee.

Late

• If you are more than 15 minutes late, the instructor will leave and the lesson is treated as a no-show. There is no refund or reschedule for that lesson.

Refunds

• There is no refund for driving lessons regardless of the outcome of a road test. All lessons purchased are final sale and non-transferable.
• Refunds are paid for unused lessons provided Marques Driving School receives notice at least 48 hours before the scheduled lesson. The cancellation fee applies to refunds requested within 48 hours of a scheduled lesson.

General Policies

• The student must provide a valid BC learner’s driver’s licence before any lesson.
• The student must be dressed appropriately and wear proper footwear (no heels).
• All students must be registered and paid in advance, and no later than the first lesson.
• The car for a road test is rented with a lesson, not on its own: book any lesson alongside it and the car is yours for the test.
• Marques Driving School may cancel a scheduled appointment because of unforeseen circumstances, for example an instructor being ill, the car breaking down, or poor road conditions. Students are notified as soon as possible and the lesson is rescheduled.
• Marques Driving School may cancel a lesson with no refund if the student is suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or uses foul, abusive or aggressive language.
• If a student causes a crash and ICBC finds them at fault, the deductible under the insurance policy must be paid by the student.
• If a student is disrespectful or threatening, or poses any danger, the lesson is cancelled with no refund and the student is banned from returning to the school.
